We have been translating contemporary Ethiopian poets together for over five years, including Bewketu Seyoum, Zewdu Milikit, Gemoraw, Hama Tuma and of course Alemu Tebeje. In 2017, we co-wrote a sketch for BBC Radio 4’s migrant Odyssey series, called “Tamrat in the Cyclops’ Cave”, about a young student activist having to leave his country to escape persecution. ​  In Amharic, the name Tamrat means "miracle".
